This was recommended by our family dentist. ALS patients often have difficulty in controlling their hands and in controlling their mouths. A traditional hand-operated toothbrush is thin and hard to hold, and the motions required for brushing teeth are sometimes difficult for ALS patients to pull off.
The Sonicare toothbrush is thick and easier to hold, and the toothbrush itself takes care of the motion required to brush teeth. It’s wonderful for use by the ALS patient, and also equally suited for use by the caregiver once the ALS patient is unable to hold the toothbrush him/herself.
